DOUGLAS R. POWELL, PARTNER Douglas R. Powell was born in Staten Island, New York on December 20th, 1953. With an innate interest of helping the injured, Douglas began his scholastic legal career in 1980 when he was admitted to Wake Forest University Law School. During this time, Douglas participated in: Phi Alpha Delta The Order of Barristers (Member) Moot Court as an Associate Chief Justice from 1979-1980. Subsequent to law school, Douglas served as Lt., Judge Advocate General’s Corps, USNR (1981-1985) in the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Administrative Law Judges. In 1988, he and Jack Hinton began the law firm of Hinton & Powell, where Douglas practices Civil Litigation, Torts, Professional Malpractice, and Workers’ Compensation Law. Since starting the firm, he has remained vigilant and active within the law community. Douglas participates in three different bar associations: Atlanta, North Carolina, and the American Bar Association. He also maintains membership in: The State Bar of Georgia The Association of Trial Lawyers of America The Georgia Trial Lawyers Association.
